Can You Trust Your GA4 Data? A Quick Checklist

Before analyzing reports, make sure the data behind them is reliable.

Many teams spend time reviewing dashboards, traffic trends, and conversions inside GA4.

But before trusting any report, there’s an important question to ask:

Can you trust your GA4 data?

Even small setup issues can create misleading reports and lead to poor decisions. So if you can’t trust the data, then there is no point in spending time analyzing and making decisions based on that data.

Every digital analyst and marketer should first ask that question. To help you, I have done two things.

  1. One created a quick checklist for you

  2. Created a tool called GAAuditor.com for automatic checkups

Quick GA4 Trust Checklist

Tracking Accuracy

  • Are your key conversions being tracked correctly?

  • Are events firing once (not duplicated)?

  • Is ecommerce data complete and accurate?

Attribution Quality

  • Are campaign UTMs clean and consistent?

  • Is self-referral traffic under control?

  • Is cross-domain tracking configured properly?

Configuration Health

  • Are internal users filtered out?

  • Are important events marked correctly?

  • Have settings been reviewed recently?

GTM Reliability

  • Are tags firing on the right pages?

  • Are old tags still active?

  • Is consent setup handled properly?

If You’re Unsure on Any of These…

That uncertainty can affect reporting, optimization, and budget decisions.

GA Auditor, a Faster Way to Check

GA Auditor helps identify common GA4 and GTM issues so you can improve data quality and make decisions with more confidence.

Good analysis starts with trustworthy data.
